Subcutaneous Fat Necrosis
Ischaemically induced necrosis of the panniculus of the neonate, manifesting as indurated colourless, reddish or haemorrhagic plaques or nodules beneath the skin. Sites of predilection include the cheeks, back, buttocks, arms and thighs. Lesions may be related to trauma during delivery, asphyxia or hypothermia.
