Acne Neonatorum

Eruption in infants that resembles acne vulgaris as seen in adolescents. It appears to develop from stimulation of sebaceous glands by maternal and infant androgen and is manifested by erythematous papules, pustules or comedones. Lesions are present at birth or may appear in early infancy. Mild comedonal acne occurs in up to 20 per cent of new-borns.
