Kasabach-Meritt Syndrome

Disorder characterized by platelet sequestration and consumption of clotting factors in giant cavernous hemangiomas resulting in thrombocytopenia and haemorrhage. The hemangiomas are frequently but not invariably present at birth and most commonly occur on the trunk, neck, and proximal parts of the limbs. They are generally deep lesions of larger size, but the disorder can also occur in association with smaller and more superficial lesions.
