Various clinical conditions resulting from inoculation of the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi by tick bites are encompassed in the term Lyme borreliosis. A common early manifestation is the characteristic eruption erythema chronicum migrans at the site of inoculation. Dissemination of the infection may cause disease of nervous system, heart and joints, in addition to other dermatoses including lymphadenosis benigna cutis and acrodermatitis chronica atrophicans.
