Hypomelanosis, Acquired, Chemical Factors

A number of chemical agents including phenols, catechols and hydroquinone derivatives are capable of depigmenting skin when applied directly. Usually, chronic exposure is necessary to cause localized depigmented patches. Corticosteroids injected intralesionally or embedded in an occlusive tape can also produce hypopigmentation.
