Melanosis, Pustular, Neonatal

Disorder of new-borns characterized by superficial vesiculopustular lesions that rupture easily and evolve into hyperpigmented macules, leaving a collarette of fine scales around the macules. The sterile lesions are most often seen in clusters under the chin, on the forehead, neck, lower back and shins. The vesiculopustular lesions disappear in 24 to 48 hours, the hyperpigmented macules regress within a period of a few weeks to three months.
